Our journey began in 2016 at MTN, where we were both young professionals, eager to start our careers. Mornings were filled with grabbing coffee to kickstart the day, and evenings were spent working late to deliver projects or enjoying after-work drinks with colleagues who quickly became close friends — the ones who were with us in the trenches.
At the time, we were just friends, though no one believes us now! Tshepi left MTN in 2018, but we remained close, and the friendship we had built continued to thrive. Even as the years passed, we stayed in touch, always supporting each other and having each other’s best interests at heart.
Fast forward to 2021 — the year we reconnected after the heartbreaking passing of our dear friend, Lesiba Mahapa, aka Swazi. His loss left an indescribable void in our hearts, but in remembering him, we found a renewed bond in each other. After the funeral in Polokwane, our conversations became more frequent, and there was no denying the connection we both felt — though, it was definitely stronger on Tshepi’s side!
One day, during one of our chats, Tshepi shared that she had lost all faith in men and planned to stay single for the next 20 years. In that moment, I knew I couldn’t stay silent about what I was feeling. Life is short, and I knew exactly what I wanted. After taking some time to reflect and ensuring my emotions were grounded in clarity — and not just in grief — I made my feelings known, loud and clear.
And here we are today a promise kept, marrying the love of my life. We've overcome challenges, navigated career changes, and ventured into the unknown as we built new paths together. Our foundation is rooted in faith, family, and culture. We’ve grown together, shaping something truly special. We share similar values, a love for adventure, and have woven our lives together in a way that feels completely natural. There is no one else I would want to experience this beautiful life with.
